

Chief Quality Officer
Kathryn (Kat) Nelson serves as Mercy's chief quality officer, with strategic and administrative oversight of the health system's quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention and regulatory accreditation activities. Kat joined Mercy in 2009 as vice president of quality and operations. She has also served in a variety of hospital and regional leadership roles in operations and quality. Prior to Mercy, Kat's career included extensive experience in patient safety and clinical improvement in both academic and Catholic health care.
Education and Credentials
Kathryn (Kat) Nelson holds a master's in health administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
