About Nitesh Kumar Byrappa, MD

Care Philosophy I've been in the United States for eight years and I’ve worked in three states. Post-COVID, I worked in hospital medicine for a year. It changed my perspective and inspired me to pursue family medicine. As a family medicine provider, I can promote wellness and preventive care and help keep patients from needing to go to the hospital. My philosophy—that everyone deserves dignity and respect—aligns with Mercy’s values. That’s why I chose to come here, and I'm very happy about that. I like to teach and being in primary care gives me the opportunity to teach patients about their health and learn from them too. It also lets me meet people from different backgrounds and different walks of life. It's teamwork, we’re constantly learning from each other. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing a patient actually feeling great and having a better quality of life, and saying, “This is how I was six months ago and this is how I am now.” That's life- changing medicine for them.

        I recently had a doctor there for the first visit. I don't feel like I was listened to as well. The second visit, that doctor was unavailable, so I got a male doctor, and he was quite wonderful. I know he was really busy, because he was taking on a lot of jobs, but he listened about my blood pressure and my heartbeat, and it's come down, because he prescribed the right medication, and he listened to me, and I'm quite grateful, and I'm gonna switch doctors, and I appreciate it. Everything.
