Dr. Shalen Kouk is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine and surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He specializes in complex sports injuries at all levels including arthroscopic and open surgical procedures. He joined the St. Louis Cardinals medical staff in 2023 and serves as a team orthopedic surgeon. He also acts as the team physician for both Lindenwood University and SEMO University, taking care of their NCAA Division I athletes. Dr. Kouk trained at the esteemed NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in New York City and completed his Sports Fellowship at the world-renowned Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. He has multiple publications, book chapters and videos on treatments for orthopedic injuries as well as UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) reconstruction and repair, also known as Tommy John surgery. Dr. Kouk sees patients and operates at both Mercy South and the Mercy Center for Performance Medicine.
