Pharmacy Residency – Northwest Arkansas

The PGY1 pharmacy residency program at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

The residency program is a 12-month postgraduate curriculum that offers training opportunities in acute patient care, medication use systems, clinical services management, and pharmacy leadership. A broad range of clinical learning experiences is offered to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a resident into an independent practitioner. As members of integrated health care teams, residents work cooperatively with other providers to deliver safe medication therapy and achieve optimal clinical outcomes. Service, teaching and scholarship are modeled and taught by residency preceptors to help the resident progress and apply the knowledge and skills required for a successful and rewarding career in clinical pharmacy.

The residency program is designed to offer an individualized training plan for each resident based on their interests, goals, and past experiences. Residents are required to complete core learning experiences to build a strong foundational knowledge base and have the opportunity to select elective rotations based on their specific areas of interest.

Application Timeline

• November: Applicants register for the Match via the shared PhORCAS/Match Portal. The portal is accessible from the Applicant Registration page or directly at phorcas.liaisoncas.com
• December 31: Recommended date by which applicants should register for the Match
• Mid January: Interviews offered via email
• February 18, 2025: Phase I Rankings open
• March 7, 2025: Deadline to submit rank list via PhORCAS
• March 19, 2025: Phase I Match Results Day
• If positions are available in Phase II of the Match, deadlines will be provided through PhORCAS and ASHP.
