KC Wolf Visits Mercy Kids

August 29, 2018

“It’s the first time we’ve heard her laugh.”

That was the reaction of a Mercy nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit after KC Wolf, the Chiefs’ mascot, made a visit to a young patient.

In fact, laughter was heard throughout the halls of Mercy Kids and the in-hospital Ronald McDonald House as the fuzzy wolf danced, high-fived, and slid through the hospital hallways.

KC visited Mercy Hospital Springfield to promote the Kansas City Chiefs’ Red Friday celebration, set for Friday, Sept. 7, 2018. That day, fans are encouraged to wear red, get excited about the upcoming season, and do their part to help local kids who are facing a medical crisis.

Starting at 6 a.m. on Sept. 7, 54 McDonalds locations across the Ozarks will sell a special collector’s edition “Chiefs Kingdom” flags for a minimum donation of $5. The proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks, including the in-hospital house at Mercy Kids. Parents can stay in the same building as their hospitalized children, in a hotel-style room with meals provided.
