Area high school seniors who are participating in the Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies (GO CAPS) Lake Region program can now apply to receive one of two $1,000 college scholarships.

The scholarships are funded by Mercy Health Foundation Lebanon. GO CAPS enables high school juniors and seniors to “test drive” future career options, and Mercy Hospital Lebanon is a partner site for students interested in health care.

“Our community should rest assured we have extraordinary young people who are interested in health care careers,” said Nicki Gamet, administrator of Mercy Hospital Lebanon. “As they spend time in places like our lab, they get hands-on time with equipment and learn from our co-workers. They get a real look at what a health care career entails.”

Scholarship recipients will be determined based on grade point average, leadership through extracurricular activities, work or volunteer experiences and a need for financial assistance. Preference will be given to students who plan to attend a Missouri college, university or technical school. Applications will be independently scored.

“We hope these scholarships remind our local students that we’re cheering them on as they pursue their higher education goals,” said Karen Simpson-Neasby, executive director of Mercy Health Foundation Lebanon. “Someday, we’d love to see them back here, caring for their family, friends and neighbors.”

Applications are available by clicking below, or through the GO CAPS Lake Region office. They must be postmarked by April 1, 2023.
