Mercy Hospital Southeast earned three American Heart Association national achievement awards, which demonstrate adherence to the latest, research-based clinical guidelines to support better outcomes for patients.
The organization's Get with the Guidelines recognized the hospital with three awards:
- Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving Center Gold Plus for the hospital's commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to people experiencing a specific type of heart attack known as an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), known to be more severe and dangerous than other types of heart attacks.
- Heart Failure Gold Plus for its commitment to improving outcomes for patients with heart failure, meaning reduced readmissions and more healthy days at home.
- Stroke Gold Plus for its commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.
Mercy Hospital Southeast also received the Target: Stroke Elite award and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award. To qualify for the Target: Stroke, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with thrombolytic therapy, which uses medication to destroy the blood clots that cause stroke. Target: Type 2 Diabetes aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
