Outpatient Infectious Disease Services Now Offered at Mercy Hospital Ardmore

August 2, 2024

Mercy Hospital Ardmore will now offer infectious disease services in an outpatient clinic setting to better diagnose and treat area patients with complex and life-threatening diseases. The team will be led by Dr. Girish Murthy, who brings more than two decades of experience to the role.

“There are a lot of complicated infections in Ardmore, whether it is a recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI), bone infection or HIV,” Dr. Murthy said. “A big issue for the majority of these patients is they are not able to get reliable transportation to Oklahoma City or the Dallas region to get the care they need. I’m excited to provide these services locally because it will be very beneficial for patients.”

Dr. Murthy has been a member of Mercy Hospital Ardmore’s hospitalist team for more than a decade. He will continue to provide care as a hospitalist in addition to seeing patients in the infectious disease clinic. “I’m from nearby Wichita Falls, Texas, and was drawn to medicine from an early age thanks to my father who was a gastroenterologist,” Dr. Murthy said. “I’ve loved medicine since I was a kid and enjoy using my knowledge to help patients.”
