ADA, Okla. – Mercy Hospital Ada earned a prestigious 5-star rating from the federal government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), solidifying its status as the area’s premier destination for the highest quality patient care.
The CMS rating is based on over 100 data points that evaluate hospital performance in mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timeliness and effectiveness of care. Mercy Hospital Ada also has an A grade from The Leapfrog Group, another comprehensive evaluator of hospital safety and quality.
“The 5-star rating and A grade are as good as it gets – it shows you don’t have to leave Ada to get the highest quality care available anywhere in the country,” said Mercy Hospital Ada President Terence Farrell. “Achieving this has been a team effort across the hospital, with every provider and co-worker focused on treating our patients with the dignity, compassion and skill they deserve.”
Mercy Hospital Ada achieved a 4-star CMS rating four years in a row before climbing to 5 stars this year. Only 8% of hospitals nationally earned the full 5 stars, and only 29% of hospitals earned Leapfrog’s A grade.
CMS is a federal agency that works in partnership with the health care community to improve quality, equity and outcomes. The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog organization with peer-reviewed, transparent safety grades updated twice annually and free to the public.
“Being recognized as one of America’s highest-rated hospitals is a testament to the dedication and hard work of every co-worker at our hospital,” said Farrell. “I’m so proud to see the results of our Mercy co-workers and proud to provide Ada with top-notch patient care.”
