ARDMORE, Okla. – Ardmore-area patients don’t have to go to Oklahoma City or Dallas anymore to get specialized care for infectious diseases.
Dr. Girish Murthy opened Mercy Clinic Infectious Disease – Ardmore, 731 12th Ave. NW, Suite 200, to complement his work as a hospitalist at Mercy Hospital Ardmore. While treating local hospitalized patients, Dr. Murthy noticed many would benefit from staying close to home for infectious disease treatment after their hospital stay.
“We see patients all over the hospital, whether it’s on the medical floors, intensive care units or OB/GYN,” said Dr. Murthy. “And even after we see you, there’s still a lot of follow-up care to make sure your infection doesn’t come back and that you’re feeling better.”
The caregivers at Mercy Clinic Infectious Disease – Ardmore work with patients to identify, prevent and treat infectious disease. The experienced care team helps by administering immunizations including for international travel, advising on proper and effective antibiotic use, educating high-risk patients on proper precautions and treating sexually transmitted infections.
Dr. Murthy is a graduate of Saint George’s University School of Medicine and attended Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center for his residency. He completed a fellowship at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, specializing in infectious disease. Dr. Murthy is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Infectious Disease Board.
