Patients who need same-day primary care or haven’t gotten around to scheduling an appointment can now be seen faster with Mercy Southeast’s newest service: a primary care walk-in clinic.
The new clinic at Mercy Primary Care – 817 S. Mount Auburn in Cape Girardeau opened this month. Patients over the age of one will receive immediate attention without needing to wait for an appointment or visit an emergency room or urgent care.
A skilled team at the clinic can treat a variety of minor issues, such as:
- Allergic reactions
- Colds and flu
- Cuts, scrapes and bites
- Earaches and headaches
- Minor burns
- Sinus infections
- Sprains and strains
- Stomachaches
- Strep, sore throats and tonsillitis
- Urinary tract infections
Nurse practitioner Brittany Kasten joined the Mercy team to care for patients at the clinic. With 13 years of experience in health care, Kasten’s specialties include mental health, primary care, urgent care and surgery.
"We are very excited about our new walk-in same-day clinic,” Kasten said. “Patients will be seen promptly and be on their way to recovery with the dignity, compassion and quality of excellence you have known and expect from Mercy Southeast."
Kasten earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Central Methodist University in Fayette and a Master of Science in nursing from Cox College in Springfield.
“My passion is working in family practice,” Kasten said. “I enjoy seeing a wide variety of patients every day. By continuing to work in this specialty, I can utilize my medical knowledge and skills to provide the best care to my patients.”
Kasten enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, taking trips to new places and watching her children play sports.
