Mercy Jefferson Named a U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Hospital for Maternity Care

Mercy Hospital Jefferson is a Best Hospital for Maternity Care, according to U.S. News & World Report, a global authority on consumer advice.

Mercy Jefferson was named a High Performer in Maternity Care for uncomplicated pregnancies. Only 414 hospitals across the country earned this honor, and only five hospitals in Missouri were recognized. Four of those five Missouri hospitals are Mercy hospitals, including Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, Mercy Hospital Aurora and Mercy Hospital Lebanon.

Best Hospitals for Maternity Care is an annual evaluation designed to assist expectant parents, in consultation with their health care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care that best meets their needs. To earn the award, Mercy Jefferson met targets that include fewer than average unexpected newborn complications, rarely scheduling deliveries earlier than national guidelines, minimizing avoidable C-sections for lower-risk pregnancies, support for exclusively breast-feeding mothers, birthing-friendly practices and reporting of racial and ethnic disparities.
