OKLAHOMA CITY — The data is in: Mercy is the best place to have your baby in Oklahoma City.
Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City is the only local childbirth center, and one of only three statewide, to be listed for 2025 among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.
“We’re proud to be on this list, because it means we have data showing that mothers and babies at our hospital benefit from the truly compassionate and expert care we work so hard to provide,” said Dr. Chad Smith, Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City’s chief medical officer. “We hold ourselves to the highest standards because our entire team of caregivers plays a pivotal role in what is a sacred moment in time for every parent.”
Maternity Care Data
U.S. News scours the data to find hospitals with high-quality labor and delivery services for the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list.
The organization evaluates how well hospitals perform across a wide range of childbirth services like severe complication rates, birthing-friendly criteria, episiotomy rates and the percentage of Caesarian births.
“We deliver about 400 babies a month at our hospital, and a big reason why is the word-of-mouth from so many parents who had a great experience delivering their baby at Mercy,” said Dr. Smith. “It’s the result of how seriously our caregivers take our work – not just with clinical expertise, but as true partners to parents in the most memorable season of their lives.”
No other hospital in central Oklahoma qualified for the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list. Expectant parents have to drive to Tulsa, Lawton or another state to find maternity care rated at the same high level as Mercy’s in Oklahoma City.
