WASHINGTON, MO. – Following a four-month search, Marie Moore has been named the next president for Mercy Washington and Lincoln communities, effective March 3. Moore comes to Washington by way of Mercy Springfield where she most recently served as chief nursing officer in Mercy’s southwestern Missouri region.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Marie for several years now, and she is truly a transformational leader,” said David Argueta, regional president of Mercy East and Southwest communities. “She brings so much joy and empathy to her work and cares deeply about her team and the patients we serve. Her experiences as an aspiring student, as a nurse and as a leader have given her a unique set of skills that makes her the right fit for this role. As the chief nursing officer for Mercy Springfield Communities, I saw first-hand the impact Marie made not just on our team of caregivers but also in the community, which is what excites me about Marie leading these teams.”

Moore has been with Mercy for 17 years, starting as a nurse tech on the surgical telemetry floor at Mercy Hospital Springfield while in nursing school. She later moved to bedside nursing care and into several leadership positions, including hospital patient logistics.
“My focus on caring for others started when I was in elementary school,” Moore said. “With my mother, who was a leader at the local health department, I spent after-school hours putting together health education packets. I think it’s where I first learned about community health, something I’m still passionate about today.”
From bedside nurse to leader, Moore originally planned to pursue her nurse practitioner degree but with the prompting of a hospital leader, she took some health administration courses and fell in love with the business side of health care. She went on to complete her master’s in health care administration.
“My clinical background pairs nicely for us to get health care right,” Moore said. “I plan to bring authentic leadership and look forward to working with our caregivers and the community to build a clear vision for the future.”
Active in Springfield area community organizations, Moore expects to build relationships in the area as she helps shepherd the growth in both Washington and Lincoln communities.
“These are very important communities for Mercy, and selecting Marie to be president is a testament to her strength and vision as a leader. I know Marie will make a lasting impact here just as she has in Springfield,” Argueta said. “Thanks to the support of the local leadership teams, we were able to dedicate the time it took to activate our succession plan and select the right person who can meet the needs of our caregivers and our patients in these communities.”
Moore grew up in Branson, Missouri, and earned her bachelor’s in nursing and master’s in health care administration from Missouri State University. She plans to relocate to Washington with her husband, Matthew, and three children.
