As the community ages, health care needs change, risks increase and the ability to stay healthy can become more challenging. Meeting all these challenges requires the right approach, which is why Mercy is growing its senior-focused care with the addition of a new 65 Prime Plus by Mercy Primary Care in Arnold, Missouri.
65 Prime Plus by Mercy Primary Care is specially designed for Medicare patients ages 65 and older. The care team provides more frequent and longer visits, personalized attention and support that goes beyond clinical exams.

“Our goal is to provide all the time and resources our older patients need to maintain their health,” said Dr. Aswin Kansakar, who will be leading the team at the new 65 Prime Plus by Mercy Primary Care clinic. “We want to address any potential health issues before they cause problems, and the best way to do that is to talk with patients, get to know them better, find out everything we can that’s going on in their lives and discuss how it can all impact their health.”
The 65 Prime Plus by Mercy Primary Care team is familiar with the challenges facing seniors’ health, whether that is multiple ongoing health conditions, an assortment of medications or illnesses that impact older patients differently than younger ones. They provide:
- Flu shots and other immunizations
- Medicare annual wellness visits
- General medical evaluations and wellness exams
- Treatment for a number of health conditions, including:
- Diabetes
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Incontinence
- Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and early memory loss
- Osteoporosis
- Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders
The clinic’s care team works with the patient during and between visits to coordinate all aspects of care. The team helps with referrals to specialists, therapists or other providers, setting up tests or procedures, obtaining prescriptions and medical equipment, and making sure patients receive preventive care, such as immunizations, lab tests and cancer screenings.
