When you give birth at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, you can take comfort in knowing there’s a team of neonatal intensive care specialists standing by, should your baby require immediate medical attention. Our Emerson Level IV NICU offers the most advanced care in St. Louis County for premature or critically ill babies.
NICU infants are monitored around the clock by experienced neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and staff nurses. Moms and dads are cared for too by a staff that’s always ready to listen, to comfort and answer questions. We believe in the importance of kangaroo care for our young premature infants.
The neonatal intensive care unit is located on the second floor inside Mercy Children's Hospital - just an elevator ride away from our Mother-Baby Unit. Each NICU family has a private room, designed to promote healing and keep families close. Parents are encouraged to visit as much as possible, sharing loving touches that are so important to their infant’s development.
