Mother-Baby Bonding Rooms

After delivery, your new family will move to one of our completely remodeled recovery rooms where you can get to know your baby. We’ll be there, too, to answer questions and offer tips on newborn care, like how to bathe or swaddle your baby. Certified lactation consultants are available to help you and your little one establish a good foundation for breastfeeding. Most moms choose to have their baby in their room throughout their visit. That way, your baby is always close by.

Your recovery room is designed for comfort with:

  • Wi-Fi to connect you to family and friends
  • Cable TV and DVD player
  • Multi-jet showers
  • Light snacks and room service

NICU for High-Risk Situations

For critically ill babies needing advanced medical care, our specially trained NICU transport team is there to help. The team travels by land or helicopter to bring infants to the Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mercy Children’s Hospital, where babies receive the highest level of neonatal care in St. Louis County.

The NICU transport team typically includes a neonatal nurse and respiratory therapist. At times, they may be joined by a neonatologist or neonatal nurse practitioner. Our “mobile NICU” team uses specialized equipment to stabilize the baby while communicating with doctors and nurses at Mercy Children’s Hospital to prepare them for the baby’s arrival.
