Mercy Clinic Eye Specialists offers precision laser cataract surgery to all our patients. We offer the most advanced cataract care in the Springfield, MO area, using precision laser systems that provide gentler, more accurate results and faster recovery. Our physicians have performed more than 10,000 laser cataract surgeries in the past three years. We are proud to be the only practice in the country providing this technology to patients at the same cost as traditional cataract surgery.
Mercy Clinic Eye Specialists - Ophthalmology is one of the 1st four centers in the United States to receive the new Cassini Ambient laser upgrade. Cassini Ambient assesses ocular surface stability, measures the posterior cornea, and detects corneal irregularities using LED topography. This technology gives surgeons the ability to get measurements and diagnostics of the cornea faster, more efficiently, and with more accuracy to assess and manage corneal astigmatism during cataract surgery.
Advancements in cataract surgery have been phenomenal. At one time, only cataract removal to eliminate vision cloudiness was possible. Nowadays, a lens replacement can be performed to improve vision after cataract removal. The ReSTOR artificial lens can address near, far, and even reading distance. Mercy is committed to providing all our patients with the best possible care at the best possible price. Laser cataract surgery offers many benefits for patients including:

“Laser cataract surgery helps us provide the most precise results with the highest safety margin available anywhere. Many people assume cataract surgery is already done with lasers. This is a myth! Typically, surgeons perform cataract surgeries using a blade to cut an opening in the eye. Surgeons then use a free-hand technique to remove the capsule of the cataract lens. Thanks to the new CATALYS™ Precision Laser System, cataract surgery can be done with very precise, reproducible results and a higher safety margin. Patients often ask me what I would do if a loved one or I needed cataract surgery. My answer is simple: the laser, of course! At Mercy, we are working hard to make this procedure available to all patients. At every site in the nation, patients pay extra for its use. At Mercy, we will use the laser on every patient, at no additional cost. Customized treatment and premium lenses are extra, but Mercy Eye Center is the only place in the world treating all patients with the laser as a part of our standard care. I am excited to be part of the physician team bringing this advanced technology to our region.”
