Neuropsychology is the study of brain-behavior relationships. A neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with expertise in how behavior and thinking skills are related to the brain. In neuropsychology, brain function is evaluated by objectively testing cognitive abilities such as memory and thinking skills. A detailed assesment helps identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses and helps direct your health care.

A neuropsychological evaluation usually includes an individual interview and testing. Neuropsychological testing involves paper-and-pencil or computerized tests to answer different types of questions. The time required to complete the testing depends on the problem being assesed. Bring your glasses or hearing aids if you use them regularly. You will be seeing a neuropsychologist and his or her neuropsychology assistant.
