Cancer is a lifechanging event for anyone diagnosed. The caregivers at the Sindelar Cancer Center know full well the toll it can take on individuals and are ready to offer their talents, services and comforting presence, as needed.
The Sindelar Center was named after the late David M. Sindelar, a leader at Mercy Hospital South who died of cancer in 2017. This center was designed to be a healing place where anyone on their own cancer journey can receive the care and attention they need.
The Sindelar Center holds a number of quality awards, including full accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC).
Our cancer care experts don't just believe in treating cancer; we believe in treating the whole individual. That's why every care plan we design is unique to you as a person.
We also believe in embracing the latest technology to achieve better outcomes. Our team of surgical oncologists offers traditional and minimally invasive procedures, depending on your condition.
We're committed to supporting you through every stage of your cancer journey. That means being with you from your diagnosis to your recovery and beyond.
Clinical trials can give cancer patients a chance to receive the latest groundbreaking treatments. At Mercy, we're committed to offering you a number of opportunities to partake in exciting research studies.
In partnership with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Community Oncology Research Program (N-CORP), we provide more than 50 trials in cancer prevention, support and treatment.
Mercy uses AI-driven texting to help you with next steps following your chemotherapy treatment. Only patients who are deemed high-risk will receive a text message if they wish. Patients who participate in our smart-texting program have fewer trips to the ER and fewer hospital re-admissions following treatment.
We have a handful of special amenities for anyone on campus to take advantage of, including:
Our chapel is a sacred space where patients, families, caregivers and friends of all backgrounds can pray and reflect.
Our café serves delicious food and beverages to patients and their visiting family members.
At nearly one thousand square feet, our conference center is an ideal place for support group gatherings or educational seminars.
With your help, we can touch even more lives throughout the St. Louis community and beyond. To learn more about ways to give, please visit the Mercy Health Foundation website.
