The Thanksgiving holiday may affect clinic hours. Please call before your visit.
Nutritional counseling is available at Mercy Dietitian Services - Dunn Road, by referral from your doctor. A registered dietitian will work with you to create a diet plan to meet your needs and fulfill your doctor’s orders. This is a one-on-one appointment; however, you may bring someone with you, especially if he or she helps with cooking or grocery shopping.
Our dietitian will take a diet history to assess your current eating habits and food preferences. You may want to keep a food journal of what you eat and drink for a few days and bring it with you to your appointment. We’ll use visual aids to help teach you about food portions, labels and your nutrition prescription. No blood work will be done.
We’ll give you up-to-date educational materials. If indicated by your doctor’s orders, we’ll set up a meal plan with you. If you have specific foods you want to discuss, please bring those food labels with you.
The goal is to help you with your individual nutrition needs. Your first appointment usually takes 60 to 90 minutes. You and your dietitian will schedule follow-up appointments as needed. The follow-up visits typically last 15 to 30 minutes. Please print and fill out a background questionnaire prior to your first appointment.
Many insurance companies cover nutrition counseling, referred to as Medical Nutrition Therapy. Check your insurance provider for benefits information.
