Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test
The multi-cancer early detection test (MCED) is a simple blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer, including many not screened for today. It can also alert you to aggressive, hard-to-detect, often fatal types of cancer like pancreatic, ovarian, and esophageal cancers. The earlier the cancer is found, the higher the chance of successful treatment and survival.
Hereditary Cancer Testing
Germline genetic testing uses a blood sample to determine if you have gene mutations that increase your risk for certain hereditary cancers. If you have a family history of cancer, it’s possible that you inherited specific changes in your genes. These altered genes cause one in eight cancers. Mercy offers genetic testing and personalized genetic counseling to help you understand your results and design a preventive care plan specific to your needs.
Pharmacogenomics
Pharmacogenomics is the study of how your DNA affects your response to certain drug treatments. It's commonly used to help prescribe blood thinners and behavioral health medications. At Mercy, we're able to study your individual DNA at a molecular level to determine which medications will help you most or may be associated with undesired side effects. Then we'll tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs.
