An eyelid lift, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure typically done on an outpatient basis. It usually involves the surgeon removing excess skin, muscle and fatty tissue from the eyelids; but in some cases, the desired results may be achieved by simply repositioning the tissues.
Most patients choose blepharoplasty surgery to achieve a brighter, more rested appearance; but it’s also used to improve side (peripheral) vision problems caused by droopy skin on the upper eyelids.
Is Eyelid Lift Surgery Right for You?
The best candidates for this surgery are over 30 with one or more of these conditions:
Baggy or droopy upper eyelids
Excess skin on the upper eyelids that partially blocks side vision
Excess skin on the lower eyelids
Bags under the eyes
An eyelid lift can’t fix dark undereye circles, crow’s feet (small wrinkles at the outer eye) or sagging eyebrows, but Mercy does offer other procedures for these concerns.
