What is the Well-Woman Exam?

Even if you look and feel healthy, it’s important to have a well-woman exam every year. This comprehensive exam allows you and your doctor to review your health concerns and screen for potential problems. It’s also a great way to build a relationship with your physician and learn how to prevent illness and promote optimal health.

Who Needs a Well Woman Exam?

If you haven’t had a well-woman exam in the past year, now is the time to schedule one. Mercy recommends annual well-women exams if you identify with any of the following:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Are sexually active
  • Have concerns about your period or menopause
  • Are considering becoming pregnant
