Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians at Mercy Clinic Maternal and Fetal Medicine - Medical Tower B, St. Louis, are high-risk obstetricians, also known as perinatologists. They are trained in obstetrics and gynecology and have an in-depth understanding of pregnancy complications and treatments.

A pregnant woman may be referred to an MFM specialist for a variety of reasons. Many women are referred for prenatal testing to evaluate fetal growth and other characteristics. Others may have a medical condition, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, or develop complications which require close monitoring and care.

Mercy Clinic MFM specialists work in collaboration with obstetricians to provide care for high-risk women through consultation, co-management of a woman's pregnancy, total care (including prenatal care and delivery) and direction of care before (pre-conception), during and after pregnancy.
