Care PhilosophyMy favorite aspect of my work is building relationships with people. I grew up here-- I'm very attached to this area. I love Cape Girardeau, I have no plans to leave, and I plan to practice for a very long time here in town. So I’m familiar with this community. But I love getting to know about my patients’ problems, families, jobs, lives. Building those relationships helps you understand people and care for them better. I love being in the outpatient setting in the clinic. It helps me maintain work-life balance. I love the breadth, the scope of care, from newborns to the elderly. In primary care, you work with medications and checkups, but you also provide injections, procedures—the variety keeps things interesting. I advise patients to be open and honest with your providers and about your health. Be willing to accept advice. Be open to solutions that may take you out of your comfort zone. Having an open, honest relationship with your providers will improve your care.
